   Compliance Policy


Purpose:

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that People's Charity operates in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing charities and non-profit organisations in the United Kingdom. This policy also establishes guidelines for ethical behaviour and accountability, which are essential to maintaining the trust of our donors, beneficiaries, and the public.


Scope:

This policy applies to all employees, board members, volunteers, and contractors of People's Charity who are based in the United Kingdom.


Compliance with Laws and Regulations:

People's Charity is committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations governing charities and non-profit organisations in the United Kingdom. We will adhere to all national and local laws that impact our operations, including but not limited to the following:


- The Charities Act 2011

- Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice

- Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

- Equality Act 2010

- Lobbying Act 2014

- Employment laws


Ethical Behaviour:

People's Charity is committed to the highest standards of ethical behaviour in all aspects of our operations. We will conduct ourselves with integrity, honesty, and transparency in all interactions with donors, beneficiaries, and the public. We will not engage in any activities that could compromise our integrity or reputation, including but not limited to the following:


- Accepting donations from individuals or organisations that engage in illegal activities or that do not align with our mission and values

- Using donations for purposes other than those specified by the donor or those consistent with our mission and values

- Engaging in any form of discrimination or harassment

- Misrepresenting our programs, services, or accomplishments

- Using our position or resources for personal gain or benefit


Accountability:

People's Charity is committed to accountability and transparency in all aspects of our operations. We will maintain accurate and complete records of all donations, expenditures, and activities. We will also provide regular reports to our board of trustees and other stakeholders on our financial performance, program accomplishments, and other relevant information. We will respond promptly and appropriately to any concerns or complaints from donors, beneficiaries, or the public.


Enforcement:

People's Charity takes compliance with this policy seriously. Any employee, board member, volunteer, or contractor who violates this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract.


Training and Awareness:


People's Charity will provide regular training and awareness sessions to all employees, board members, volunteers, and contractors to ensure that they are aware of and understand their obligations under this policy. This training will include information on relevant laws and regulations, ethical behaviour, and accountability. All new employees, board members, volunteers, and contractors will receive this training as part of their induction process.


Reporting and Whistleblowing:


People's Charity encourages all employees, board members, volunteers, and contractors to report any concerns or suspected violations of this policy. We will ensure that all reports are handled confidentially and investigated promptly and thoroughly. We will also protect whistleblowers from any retaliation or adverse consequences as a result of making a report.

  Financial Policy


1. Pupose

The purpose of this financial policy is to ensure that People's Charity manages its finances in a responsible manner, and that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reported.


2. Roles and Responsibilities

The Board of Trustees is reponsible for the overall financial management of the charity. The Treasurer is responsible for day-to-day financial management, including the maintenance of financial records and the preparation of financial reports.


3. Budgeting

People's Charity will prepare an annual budget that will be approved by the Board of Trustees. The budget will be reviewed regularly to ensure that the charity is on track to meet its financial goals.


4. Income and Expenditure

All income and expenditure will be recorded accurately and promptly in the charity's accounting system. The appointed Treasurer will ensure that all financial transactions are properly authorised and supported by appropriate documentation.


5. Banking

The appointed Treasurer will ensure that all bank accounts are reconciled regularly and that all bank statements are reviewed by the Board of Trustees.


6. Payments

All payments made by People's Charity will be made by cheque, cash  or electronic transfer, and will be properly authorised and supported by appropriate documentation.


7. Financial Reporting

People's Charity will prepare regular financial reports that will be reviewed by the Board of Trustees. These reports will include a statement of income and expenditure, a balance sheet, and a cash flow statement.


8. Internal Controls

People's Charity will implement appropriate internal controls to safeguard its assets and to prevent fraud and other financial irregularities. The appointed Treasurer will ensure that all financial transactions are properly authorised and that appropriate segregation of duties is maintained.


9. Audit and Review

People's Charity will be audited by an independent auditor in line with the Charity Commissions recommendations. The Treasurer will ensure that all financial records are available for the audit, and will work with the auditor to address any issues that are identified.

   Donation Policy


Donations Policy for People's Charity


At People's Charity, we rely on the generosity of our donors to fund our programs and services. We are committed to using all donations in a responsible and effective manner to support our mission of helping those in need.

We accept the following types of donations:



1. Monetary Donations: These donations can be made online through our website or mailed to our office. We also accept donations in person at our office during business hours. We accept donations in various forms of currency, including cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others.
